From the Sun to the Stars
A solar-powered journey through the cosmos
If a journey of a thousand miles (or a billion light years) begins with a single step, this guided tour of the cosmos holds tantalizing promise. Beginning at home with the earth, solar system, and sun, astronomer James B. Kaler reveals a variety of amazing sights: spectra, nebulae, supernovae, interstellar gas and dust, star birth and death, exoplanets, and much more. Along the way, introduces us to the tools of astronomy, including telescopes, high-powered cameras, spectrographs, and the modern observatory. And he concludes with a glimpse at the possibility of life in other planetary systems.
Written in style that is at once breezy, witty, and authoritative, From the Sun to the Stars brings a world of stellar wonders down to earth
